You don’t love me, you don’t like me, I fuckin’ get it. I’m a piece of shit, OK? I’m still his father, I can give him stuff. I got this for him, just give it to him. Tell him it’s from me.

I think it (Lost River) is an experience. I think it’s a very strong experience. It’s either a good experience or it’s a bad experience for you. I think, for me anyway, most movies I see, I feel like in the first ten minutes, I know what I’m watching. Sometimes you wanna have a completely different experience and not know where you’re going, but be led somewhere. I’m excited by the reactions that the movie is getting because they’re extreme, and it means that the movie’s effective, and it works. It has a power. You know, if everybody’s happy, it’s boring. You want people to have a strong reaction. So often you see films and you have no reaction. You can text or you can do other things… they just don’t impact you. To try and make something that penetrates people, for better or worse…it’s nice to see that it’s working.

You wasted your time… you wasted your time following me. You let that happen.
